Let’s walk the walk and make a difference together

Be part of a movement to make a positive difference this autumn in aid of Hospitality Action.

Now in its fourth year, Walk for Wellbeing, powered by UK hospitality talent partner mum in partnership with Caterer.com and Peoplebank, invites the nation to put on its walking shoes and join Hospitality Action to take strides towards promoting better wellbeing for all whilst raising funds to support its vital work.

The wellbeing of our people demands our collective attention. Currently over half of those contacting Hospitality Action for support directly reference mental health issues. The overwhelming majority are also struggling with household debts, with many facing the threat of court action or eviction. Nearly half are working in front-facing roles, including bar staff, waiting teams and baristas.

We are here to help. Since the start of 2020, we have helped more people than ever, answering 26,809 helpline calls and delivering 6,753 face-to-face and over-the-phone counselling sessions. But there is still so much more to do.

Wellbeing is the aim. Walking is the game.

Wellbeing is at the forefront of Walk for Wellbeing. Every penny raised supports hospitality people facing challenging times. No matter how much money you raise, your participation is what’s important and helps us take crucial steps towards promoting wellbeing across the hospitality industry.

On Sunday 8 October, two days prior to World Mental Health Day, we will be walking 20km in Manchester hosted by The Manchester Hoteliers Association.

Starting at 10am with registration at 9.30 the walk will start in Sale Water Park at the Trafford Watersports Centre car park (the last car park along the entry road).

The 20km route will follow the lake, joining the river Mersey before heading along the riverbank to Chorlton Water Park and beyond. This attractive walk boasts flat terrain and takes in two water parks, the river Mersey and sections of the Trans Pennine trail.

Please bring water/snacks with you and put your safety first at all times. Wear comfortable shoes and bring emergency contact details. Keep an eye on the weather and dress accordingly, it's set to be a sunny day so please bring an umbrella for shade/suntan lotion with you and stay hydrated.

A Walk for Wellbeing t-shirt will be provided on the day.

Post-event: There will be a toast and some nibbles at Dakota Manchester Terrace, everyone is invited to come along and celebrate our sucess on the day.

Help is where Hospitality Action is.

With mental health issues, the cost-of-living crisis and fear of homelessness at an all-time high, the money you raise will help:

·         Support the 1 in 2 people with mental health issues that contact Hospitality Action for support.

·         Deliver in-person and phone counselling sessions.

·         Provide emergency grants to put food on the table.

·         Ease the pressure of rising food and fuel costs for those households forced to choose between heating and eating.

·         Clear arrears for households at immediate risk of homelessness, providing essential relief, security and ultimately improved wellbeing.

Let’s get walking, talking and fundraising. Register today.
